Man facing heroin charge found passed out in car

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A man was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell heroin Saturday around 11:30 a.m. after police found him passed out in a car, a spokesperson for the Wilmington Police Department says.

Officers responded to the area of North Third and Red Cross streets in reference to a call about a careless and reckless driver. They recognized the suspected vehicle at a nearby gas station, and found the driver passed out in the front seat.

There, they also saw two bindles of heroin.

As a result, Joseph W. Porter was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center and charged.
