(RNN) - Les Miles, Mark Richt and Nick Saban are good at transplanting their brains into their quarterbacks. LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger is really funny and deceptively smart, kind of like Les. Aaron Murray is smooth, cool and low-key. AJ McCarron is intense, committed and can be a little grumpy sometimes.

Zach Mettenberger on why he doesn't do Twitter: "You can have a million tweets about how you love God and your charity work. Drop one f-bomb or a picture with a beer in your hand and it's all anybody remembers. I'd rather just not do it than be one of the cool guys."

Manziel's issues

AJ McCarron wouldn't comment on what happened regarding Manning Passing Camp roommate Johnny Manziel – like why he didn't wake him up if Manziel actually did oversleep because his cell phone alarm didn't work before the practice he missed.

"I can't speak for Johnny. Johnny is his own man. My name is AJ," he said.

Later, AJ when asked how he wanted to be remembered, he said this:

"I want to be remembered as a guy that won and did things the right way. That I never brought any kind of negative light on my last name, my coach or my university…"

Draw your own conclusions.

Hurry up offense debate continues

The ongoing debate about whether hurry up offenses are good or bad things continued. LSU safety Craig Losten likes them because he can make more tackles.

Nick Saban thinks it bears looking at. The NFL has about 65 plays on offense per game, in college it's about 80 and fast-running teams have more than that. It's worth looking into to see if there is an accumulative effect.

Georgia's Mark Richt likes to speed it up, and his tight end Arthur Lynch said football's style is evolving just like technology. If you don't want to get with what's happening now, maybe you're in the wrong profession.

Vanderbilt's James Franklin said he just wants to make sure the officials are in position and the players on both sides of the line are set before the snap of the ball.

Vandy's legal trouble

Franklin stonewalled questions about the alleged sex crime involving four dismissed players on his team. It's an ongoing legal investigation and comment is forbidden. He did say it has not affected recruiting.
