Thieves target cars in Landfall

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Wilmington Police are investigating a rash of car break ins inside the gates of an upscale community.

According to an email sent from Landfall Security to its residents, there were six reports of cars being broken into.

The incidents reportedly happened between Landfall Drive and the Eastwood Entrance area, at Landfall Drive, Landalee Lane, Prestwick Lane, Odyssey Drive and Pembroke Jones Drive.

In one instance, an intruder was found in a garage in the early morning hours.

According to the email, the thieves got away with a radar detector, flashlight, sunglasses, a gift card and cash of an unknown amount.

The vehicles that were targeted were apparently unlocked.

Landfall Security called in the Wilmington Police Department to investigate.

Meantime, the officers are reminding residents to lock their cars.
