WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Officers with the Wilmington Police Department arrested a teen Tuesday evening who's accused of being involved in a shooting reported in the Creekwood area.

According to police, there were reports of a drive-by shooting in the 800 block of North 30th Street. Witnesses said a black Impala approached several men in the area and fired multiple shots at the individuals.

Shortly thereafter, there were reports of a vehicle fitting the same description being involved in a hit-and-run at 30th and Market Streets.

Police say the Impala took off towards the Monkey Junction area and drove into a garage of a home.

According to Linda Rawley with WPD, officers found the Impala and arrested 19-year-old Joseph McCrimmons. Police said the other young men riding in the car were released since they were not involved in the shooting.

McCrimmons was charged with possession of a fire arm by a felon, discharging a fire arm within city limits and hit-and-run.

According to police, the gun used in reported shooting has not been recovered. They believe McCrimmons may have let other people who were involved out of the Impala before pulling into the garage.
