Star of 'Eastbound and Down' injured while roller skating on set

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Danny McBride, star of HBO's Eastbound and Down, was treated and released from Cape Fear Hospital Tuesday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The show was shooting on location at Jellybeans Family Skate Center of Wilmington on Oleander Drive.

According to a 911 call placed from Jellybeans, the actor fell while on roller skates and injured his back. When asked by the dispatcher what caused the accident, the female caller states, he's "not a sufficient roller skater; he doesn't roller skate much, I guess."

The owner of the business wouldn't comment on what happened.

Eastbound and Down is filming its fourth and final season in Wilmington.

McBride plays Kenny Powers, a former professional baseball player who is adjusting to life following his time in the MLB.

According to the extras casting director's Facebook page, Wednesday's shoot has been canceled. However, there's no word yet on how the injury will impact production for the rest of the week.
