WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - In the wake of the train derailment in the love grove community, residents didn't know where to turn. But thanks to CSX, people are getting back on track.
After six train cars jumped the tracks, residents of the love grove community were blocked from leaving. As a result, many people were unable to get to work and lost money.
CSX set up a Community Outreach Center at the Coastline Convention Center Thursday. Claims agents are processing claims and issuing reimbursements for those who incurred out-of-pocket losses for all reasonable expenses.
Despite unexpectedly going off the track, those whom have been affected by the derailment are thankful for CSX and their efforts to help them in their time of need.
"I'm happy and they compensated me a little extra so I'm happy, CSX did what they were supposed to do," said Linda Campbell.
"I think what they did for us today was pretty good and I thank them for that," Rosa Mack added.
