NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office seized dozens of illegal gaming machines Thursday afternoon.

Officials raided Spin City Electronic Gaming Sweepstakes Parlor off Market Street near Walmart around 2 p.m.

According to the sheriff's office, 48 machines were removed.

Deputies cited three people with misdemeanor charges.

The business' owner, 44-year-old Anthony Todd Sutton, along with 42-year-old Gregory Scherping Monroe and 19-year-old Kanessa Christine Martindale were all charged with promoting, operating or conducting a server-based electronic game promotion.

There were 15 people playing the illegal machines when the raid happened, but were not cited.

"Ample warnings have been given out to the owners of the parlors, now we are aggressively enforcing the law," said Sheriff McMahon, in a statement.
