WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Effective immediately, officials with the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority announced Wednesday that Jim Flechtner has been appointed as the interim chief executive officer.
Flechtner's appointment comes after former CEO Matt Jordan's departure. Jordan has since taken on the new role of general manager of Tampa Bay Water in Clearwater, FL.
Flechtner has been with the authority since 2008, and was named CFPUA's deputy CEO and chief operations officer in Oct. 2011.
He has experience with the City of Wilmington in managing capital improvement projects involving streets, drainage, utilities and other public infrastructure.
Flechtner earned his Bachelor's degree from UNC Charlotte and his Master's degree in Business Administration from UNC Wilmington. Additionally, he's a licensed professional engineer and member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
