WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Women in Wilmington kicked and punched their way to protecting themselves from crime.
Tuesday night, the Wilmington Police Department hosted a women's self defense course at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center.
Patrick Sawhill, a black belt in Taekwondo, taught the course.
He said the goal is to show students how to disarm an attacker.
Only 40 could take the course, but nearly 100 showed up, so the police department plans to host another class soon.
We will post details online about the time and date of the next course once we receive them.
