FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA (WECT) – Robert Hester, a former Wilmington firefighter accused of rape, was found not guilty on two out of three charges against him.
According to the Fairfax County Clerk's office, a jury found Hester not guilty on one count each of abduction with intent to defile and one count of sexual penetration with an object by force.
A jury was not able to reach a verdict in a third charge, which resulted in a mistrial. The clerk's office says Hester is due back in court Friday for a status hearing on that charge.
Robert Hester, of Elizabethtown, was arrested in Virginia in March after reports of rape at a Hyatt Hotel. Police said Hester told officials he was in the state "sightseeing."
Officials say Hester knows his accusers.
He was terminated from the Wilmington Fire Department because of a violation of the city's attendance policy. Hester had worked for the city since November 2000 and was stationed at the Seagate Fire Station.
