WILMINGTON, NC (WECT)- Tropical storm Chantal continues to chug across the central Atlantic. Chantal should move towards the Leeward Islands over the next 24 hours and then turn northwestward towards the Caribbean and the Bahamas late in the week.
Many computer models suggest Chantal could be a threat to the southeast U.S. coast late this week into the weekend. By Friday a cool front will approach the Carolinas from the west. This front could draw Chantal or its remnants towards the southeast U.S. coast. This forecast scenario could mean a threat for heavy rain late in the week into the weekend. Remember we are still four to five days from this possible event so the forecast is not set in stone. The forecast will likely change so stay with WECT and WECT.com for the latest information.
