UPDATE: Teenager taken to hospital after shooting in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Wilmington Police are searching for a suspect or suspects after a shooting Sunday afternoon.

New Hanover County 911 Center fielded several calls about shots fired in the 200 block of North 12th Street. They mentioned people in two cars shooting at each other, according to a 911 supervisor, and one person was seen firing shots through the sunroof of an SUV.

Police could not confirm exactly what happened because the investigation is on-going, according to Lt. Blanton with WPD.

The victim, a 16-year-old boy, was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown as of this report.

Detectives are searching for a white or tan Ford Explorer with the rear window shot out, according to Blanton. He could not say how or if the vehicle is connected to the shooting.
