CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – An off-duty Coast Guard member was able to help injured boaters in Carolina Beach Saturday.

Petty Officer 1st Class Patrick Royal, a boatswain mate from Coast Guard Station Wrightsville Beach, was boating with his family in the Snow's Cut waterway when he noticed another boat, the Jimmy Crack Corn, had run aground.

Royal brought his boat over to assist.

Along with a Towboat US crew, Royal helped bring two injured women and one uninjured woman to his boat.

He safely delivered the women to Carolina Beach State Park to await emergency medical services

"I'm just glad I was in position to assist and get them safely transported to EMS," said Royal.
