WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Planned Parenthood: Wilmington Health Center would be out of compliance if a recent bill approved by State Senators becomes a law without any changes.
But if it makes it that far, families in Wilmington won't have to relocate to find the services offered by the center, according to Melissa Reed, VP of Public Affairs for Planned Parenthood.
It would take hundreds of thousands of dollars to bring the facility into compliance, but Reed said it would happen.
"We will be there no matter what," she said.
The additions to HB 695 have attracted comments from around the state, including hundreds of protesters who crowded into Raleigh Wednesday. Even Governor Pat McCrory criticized the process used by his fellow Republicans in the State Senate.
The bill moves to the State House next.
