BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Commissioners in Brunswick County voted Monday night to move the 911 dispatch center under the Sheriff's Office as part of a reorganization plan.
The 911 center is currently under the Emergency Services Department and Director Anthony Marzano.
"I support whatever the Board feels is in the best interest of the citizens of Brunswick County," said Marzano when reached late Monday night.
He said 31 employees work in the 911 center in the county, and the budget is approximately $2.3 million.
A similar move happened in Brunswick County a year ago, when administrators moved Animal Control under Sheriff John Ingram's department to become Animal Protective Services.
No word on a specific date or timeframe for the latest move to take effect. Marzano said he will likely be meeting with the Sheriff Ingram in the coming days to map out a transition plan.
