Communities come together for little girl who survived accident that killed her family
(WMC-TV) - It has been just over a week since a little girl survived a crash that took the lives of her entire family. Since then, two Arkansas communities have banded together in an effort to provide the little girl the support she needs.
Cadence McGuire may not know it, but she is teaching her family about courage as she remains strong despite losing her mother, father, and baby sister in a car accident that happened about one month before her 7th birthday.
"She was the one who helped me figure out right from wrong," Tiffany Hawkins said about her sister, Jessica, who was killed in the crash. Jessica's husband, Nicolas, and 2-year-old daughter, Brinley Mae, were also killed.
Cadence was the only survivor.
"She's a little miracle, there's a plan for her," said Tiffany.
From small change to big dollars, the people of Gosnell and Blytheville are coming together so that the family is not left to raise the little girl alone.
"We've had $424 in the last three days for Cadence," said Katie Walker, who placed jars at four gas stations around town. She is also planning a car wash and making t-shirts in an effort to raise money for Cadence.
"She has a big heart, she's being real strong for everybody and she's holding everybody together," said Katie.
The community car wash for Cadence will be held Saturday in Blytheville in the O'Reilly Auto Parts parking lot. There are also plans in the works for a benefit concert.
