SURF CITY, NC (WECT) - A pedestrian was hit by a car Friday night in Surf City, and the driver of the car never stopped.
Lieutenant Jeff Johnson with the Surf City Police Department said two people were walking on North New River Drive near the intersection of Fourth Street.
That's when a car hit one of the pedestrians. Johnson said the man's injuries appear to be serious.
According to the Surf City Police, a suspect has been taken into custody.
Michael Ramos, 24 of Dunn, NC, was the driver of the vehicle. Ramos is charged with felony hit and run, careless and reckless driving, and felony possession of heroin possession of drug paraphernalia.
