OAK ISLAND, NC (WECT) – Leaders in Oak Island are considering several changes to the town's budget – including forking over $120,000 for "professional services."
Town leaders already admitted that property owners would see an increase in sewer district fees to pay for the town's outstanding debt to cover the town's sewer system.
The town has to use more money to pay consultants and lawyers for the time spent finishing last year's audit.
Town leaders are meeting on Tuesday night to discuss changes to the upcoming budget. The final budget must be presented by July 1.
