WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – If you're heading in or out of Wilmington Tuesday night, you may want to avoid the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.
According to the bridge tender, the Coast Guard Cutter Diligence is expected to return to the Port City around 8:45 p.m.
The ship has to go under the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge to get to its berth along Water Street, so expect the bridge to go up around that time.
Drivers will likely see delays on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge between 8:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. You may want to consider using the Isabel Holmes Bridge to avoid the delays.
The Diligence is returning from a 43-day patrol in the Atlantic Ocean.
During the patrol, the Diligence conducted three vessel safety boardings, embarked 65 migrants after they attempted to illegally reach U.S. soil, and supported a long range MEDEVAC of an ill mariner 300 miles offshore.
