News Release from UNCW:

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Forward Jordan Henry from Iona has transferred to UNCW to play women's basketball, second-year Head Coach Adell Harris announced Tuesday.

Henry, a versatile 6-3 performer, joins the Seahawks after playing her freshman season for the Gaels of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Per NCAA transfer rules, she will sit out the 2013-14 season and resume her career in 2014-15 with three years of eligibility remaining.

"Jordan is a talented shooter with great range," said Harris. "Her versatility and size will help us on both ends of the floor. More importantly, Jordan is a great fit for our locker room. She has outstanding character and believes in my vision for UNCW women's basketball."

A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Henry played in 16 games in 2012-13 while battling injuries and helped the Gaels post a 20-13 record and advance to the WNIT, where they fell to Colonial Athletic Association champion Drexel in the opening round. Henry averaged 4.2 minutes per game and finished with 10 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks.

Henry enjoyed a stellar prep career at Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw, finishing her career as the all-time leader in points (1,021), rebounds (957) and blocked shots (280). She averaged a double-double with 13.9 points and 15.3 rebounds per game during her senior season en route to earning Player-of-the-Year accolades from both the Union County Weekly and UnionCountyHoops.com.

A three-time All-Southern Carolina Conference selection for Coach Dwight Miller, Henry led the state in blocks, ranked fourth in rebounds and stood 34th in steals in her final season with the Mavericks. In addition, she averaged a double-double during her junior campaign with 13.7 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest.
