NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Members of the New Hanover County Democratic Party gathered early Monday afternoon to get ready for a road trip to the eighth straight "Moral Mondays" rally at the North Carolina General Assembly.

Richard Poole, Chairman of the New Hanover County Democratic Party, said he originally had 60 people sign up to travel to Raleigh, but was unsure how many would make it due to the rainy weather.

"We're really concerned about the flood of bad legislation coming out of Raleigh," said Poole.  "It seems like the legislature wants to drag our state backwards."

Poole said he and his colleagues were tired of the current state of affairs within the legislature.

"We want our legislators to know that we're unhappy about the attacks on voting, the attacks on the environment, and the attacks on working people that are taking place in this legislature," said Poole.

Poole said no one in his party planned on getting arrested at the rally.
