BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The bond for a 19-year-old charged with first-degree murder in the death of a four-month-old baby was reduced Monday.
Randy Lee Richardson II is facing charges for the death of Colton Richardson on Tuesday, May 28.
Attorney James Payne is representing Richardson. Payne said the baby wasn't Richardson's but he was raising it like his own.
"This is a heartbreaking case no matter how you look at it," said Payne. "This is a boy who stepped up to raise, love and care for this baby. There is no happy ending."
Payne said the baby was injured at a house in Shallotte and was airlifted to Chapel Hill.
According to Payne, Richardson's bond was reduced Monday to $500,000.
