WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Animal control picked up seven pit bulls from a home on Ward Street Saturday night after authorities received reports of the animals being abused.
According to police, the responding officer noticed a dog with some wounds on its face when he first arrived to the house.
When the officer checked the back yard, two rifles were seen in plain view underneath the residence in an open craw space. A stolen handgun was found inside.
According to the landlord, the tenants had been evicted five days ago.
Police believe a possible convicted felon was living in the house. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
