NWS issues coastal flood advisory for Downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for the lower Cape Fear River which includes Downtown Wilmington.

The NWS says minor coastal flooding is expected as the Cape Fear River is expected to rise to around 5.90 feet at the Downtown Wilmington gauge.

High tide will occur around 9 p.m. Friday night, so high water could occur for two hours before or after.

The advisory will be in effect from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. Friday night.
