Soaking showers and thunderstorms will continue to fire as a cold front presses southward. While the threat for severe weather has been marginal this morning the rain has been heavy.
Here at the First Alert Forecast Center on Shipyard Boulevard in Wilmington we have had several rounds of torrential downpours. Some lightening will accompany these storms as well.
As we move into the afternoon the front will hang up off shore, bringing some slightly drier weather, but not dry enough Wednesday to thwart afternoon heat index values in the low 90s.
By Thursday we will get a brief reprieve as the front slips farther south and cooler and drier air moves down from New England. However our exclusive ‘Hour by Hour' forecast model brings the front northward again by the end of the week – setting of some more showers.
