WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Postseason honors continued to roll in for UNCW's baseball program on Friday as Michael Bass, Ryan LaGrange and Mat Batts were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-East Region team.
Bass and LaGrange, both of whom advanced to the national ballot for ABCA All-America honors, were named to the first team while Batts was selected to the second team by the region's coaches.
Bass, who has earned four All-America honors to his credit following his tremendous season, led the Seahawks in nine offensive categories, total, including batting average (.380), runs (62), hits (82) and stolen bases (26). He was the runner up for CAA Player-of-the-Year honors while tying the school record with an impressive 26-game hitting streak midway through the season.
LaGrange was a second-team Capital One® Academic All-America selection and a first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honoree, along with Bass, after hitting .370 with 14 doubles and five home runs in 57 games, including 53 starts.
