First Alert Forecast: Severe thunderstorm watch continues for Southeastern NC

Posted: Updated:

SOUTHEASTERN, NC (WECT) - The National Weather Service continues a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Pender County and southern Bladen Counties through 9pm. Also, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for all of Southeastern North Carolina until 1am Friday.

An approaching cold front will trigger the storms which may produce wind gusts of locally more than 50mph – and lightning and downpours too. Thankfully, not all spots will get storms, but be prepared to seek shelter if a warning is issued for your county.

After midnight, the cold front will move off the coast, our storm threat will go down to zero, and nice weather is expected for Friday!
