Suspects in connection to home invasion face more than 30 charges

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A fourth suspect was taken into custody just before 1:00 Friday afternoon in connection to a home invasion that happened earlier in the day.

Bernard Rashad Samuel, 22, Tarlester Lamont Green, 37, Harry Leon Hankins III, 25, and Antonio Lemark Green, 34, have all been arrested and face multiple charges, a spokesperson with ther sheriff's office confirms.

Samuel, Tarlester Green and Hankins all face 32 charges, including including kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon, while Antonio Green faces 31 charges including kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Some of the other charges the suspects face include the following:

  • Maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for drugs
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Conspiracy to sell schedule IV
  • PWISD marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Breaking and entering
  • Larceny after breaking and entering
  • Assault by pointing a gun
  • Robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Robbery with a dangerous weapon conspiracy
  • Second degree kidnapping

Wrightsboro Elementary went under lockdown Friday morning while deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office were in the area investigating the incident.

According to New Hanover County Schools, the sheriff's office conducted a controlled dismissal of Wrightsboro students.

Three of the four suspects accused of entering a home on Misty Lane were taken into custody shortly after the crime was reported.

Someone called 911 Friday morning to report a breaking and entering. The caller was able to give authorities a good description of the vehicle, which deputies quickly found.

When officials stopped the vehicle, two people in the back of the truck ran. Deputies arrested two others at that time who were in the truck.

A third suspect was arrested when someone in the neighborhood called 911 because they thought someone was in the garage.

Deputies were able to talk the man out of the garage and arrested him with no incident.

The lockdown was lifted after a K-9 tracked the scent of the fourth suspect to the 2500 block of Castle Hayne Road, where he was hiding under a truck before running across the road and being apprehended.
