COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A woman accused of murder made her first appearance in court Tuesday morning.
According to court records, Beverly Williams was arrested and charged Saturday for stabbing Eddie Jarone Best in the chest several times.
Investigators said they received a call from Williams' mother saying her daughter called her to say she had stabbed Best Friday. When officials arrived to her house, Williams was calm and told them she had been in a fight but was fine.
According to police, officers walked into the home and found Best's body in a bedroom. Police say Williams admitted to stabbing Best several times in the chest after an altercation.
Best was killed at least 17 hours before they discovered his body. Authorities are waiting on autopsy results to reveal exactly how long he was dead.
Investigators are still trying to determine the extent of Williams' and Best's relationship.
Williams is expected in court again June 17. She was given a $1 million bond.
