The Wilmington Housing Authority is applying for a grant to renovate the Hillcrest neighborhood.
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington Housing Authority is applying for a grant to renovate the Hillcrest neighborhood.
They say that process is moving forward and they can submit an application next month. If they receive the Choice Neighborhood Program Funding, it would give them money to replace 250 units in HillCrestt with around 400 units and let them add features like an urban farm.
It would also let them add about 100 housing units to the Dry Pond neighborhood.
"You can imagine the impact that would have to be able to renovate the entire south side of the City of Wilmington," said Michael Krause, the Chief Executive Officer.
He says they should know if they receive the funding within a year.
