Albany St. just misses upset over Valdosta St.

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The four times the Albany State Lady Rams and Valdosta State Lady Blazers met on the softball field, VSU came with a win every time.

So Friday's Division II NCAA South Regional game should have been another blow out right? Not so much.

In the top of the 5th, the bases were loaded for Domonique Bryant who laid into a Brianna Hanock pitch and knocked over the fence in left.  The grand slam get A grand slam home run. Those 4 runs equals the amount ASU had scored on VSU over the entire year.

But in the bottom half of the inning, the national champs responded.  Ashley Steinhilber get the Lady Blazers on the board with a 3 run homer to straight away center cutting ASU's lead  to 4-3

And then in the bottom of the 7th with the bases loaded, Morgan Johnson is the hero. Johnson delivered an RBI game winning single to left.

VSU walked off with a 5-4 win and will play Tampa at 10:00am Saturday morning. Albany State will play St. Leo to follow.
