A teen is in the hospital with serious injuries after two cars were involved in an accident Friday evening at Dunbridge and Sugar Ridge Road in Wood County.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol have released the name of Tyrus Alvarez, 16, of Bowling Green, who was driving a Pontiac Firebird eastbound on Sugar Ridge Road. According to police, Alvarez failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck in the driver side by a GMC Suburban driven by Renee Wendt, 51, of Dunbridge.
Wendt's vehicle went off the left side of the road and overturned, coming to rest again on its wheels.
Wendt and her 12-year-old passenger Hailey Wendt sustained non-life threatening injuries. They were taken to the hospital, and later released.
Alvarez suffered life threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter.
All involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts, and alcohol and drug use do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
