According to the Wilmington Police Department, one man was shot three times on South Eighth Street overnight.
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Officers with the Wilmington Police Department responded to the area of Eighth and Meares Streets in reference to gunfire just after 1 a.m. Thursday morning, according to WPD.
Officers say a 22-year-old was located in the 900 block of S. Eighth Street and was transported to NHRMC with gunshot wounds to his forearm, groin, and lower leg.
The victim stated that he was walking from a bar when two males came out of the bushes.
Police say the first suspect was described as 17 to 19 years old, 5' 5" to 5' 6", short dreads, dark skin, thin build, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect was described as 17 to 19 years old, 5' 10" to 5' 11", light skin, and wearing a white t-shirt.
The suspect in the black sweatshirt yelled "give me your money" and then each displayed a handgun of an unknown make, model, or color, according to police.
The male in the white t-shirt fired his weapon an unknown amount of times hitting the victim, according to police.
The suspects and the victim fled on foot.
Police do not have anyone in custody in connection to the shooting at this time. Detectives are still investigating.
