A ride along with Highway Patrol

In the media, we occasionally get the opportunity to do a ride along with local law enforcement officers, and every once in a while something unexpected will happen.

That was the case recently when Fox Wilmington reporter Ann McAdams and Chief Photographer Ryan Koresko rode along with the Highway Patrol.

A man riding on a motorcycle was stopped for rolling through the stoplight turning onto Military Cutoff Road, and the initial infraction was just the beginning of trouble for the driver.

Trooper Calvin Lewis issued the man a ticket for driving with an expired license and explained that legally, he could not drive the motorcycle away from the scene.

We thought that would be the last we'd see of 18-year-old Olivio Scorism, but about half an hour later, during a drive through Wrightsville Beach, we were in for a surprise – the same man was spotted still riding his motorcycle.

Lewis said the only reason he didn't take Scorism to jail was because he was polite and cooperative both times he was pulled over.
