Dog killed in house fire at a firefighter's home

According to officials, the fire happened at a home in the 2000 block of Butler Circle, off Longwood Road, near Ash. According to officials, the fire happened at a home in the 2000 block of Butler Circle, off Longwood Road, near Ash.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Crews spent some time Tuesday night working to put out a house fire in Brunswick County.

According to officials, the fire happened at a home in the 2000 block of Butler Circle, off Longwood Road, near Ash.

The home belongs to Jeff Milligan, who happens to be a firefighter.

Our crew on the scene was told Milligan's son was in the shower and heard the dogs barking.  When he looked out the window, the porch was engulfed in flames.

A dog was lost in the fire but there are no reports of any other injuries.

The house is a total loss.
