Six-car accident temporarily caused major traffic delays Tuesday morning

LELAND, NC (WECT) – According to Trooper King with Highway Patrol, there was a wreck involving two cars on the eastbound lane going into Wilmington before the US 421 split causing traffic to slow down.

As cars were passing by scene, the driver of a 2008 Mazda failed to reduce speed and hit a 2006 Cadillac causing a total of six cars to pileup on Hwy 74 near Alligator Creek Bridge. The driver of the 2008 Mazda was charged with failure to reduce speed.  Traffic was at a standstill for over two hours.

Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Everyone is expected to be okay.
