Man wanted for attempted homicide in GA being held in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A man wanted for attempted homicide in Georgia is being held in the New Hanover County Jail.

According to a representative from the US Marshal's Office, Matthew Terry was arrested in Wilmington Thursday night with the assistance of officers from the Wilmington Police Department and K9 units.

The Sandy Springs Police Department's Facebook page says Terry is suspected of shooting 38-year-old Shawn Crews at her home March 24.

Officials say the shooting was witnessed by Terry's 17-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son on the front steps of the apartment complex.

According to the Sandy Springs Police Department, Crews was taken to the hospital for several gunshot wounds.

Terry is awaiting extradition back to Georgia.
