BLADENBORO, NC (WECT) – According to CSX, a broken rail has been determined as the cause of the train derailment in Bladenboro.
The derailment happened on February 2, when two locomotives derailed nine of 105 cars en route to Wilmington.
About two gallons of propane was released from a residue car as a result of the crash.
Residents in the area were evacuated until the crash site and surrounding areas were deemed safe.
The spilled propane was safely collected and remediated following the crash. No one was injured.
