WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - We're getting our first look at the Wilmington man who was arrested and charged with first-degree murder Thursday night, accused of killing his father.
Corey Eugene Roberts, 20, was arrested at the family's home at 503 Night Hawk Drive.
Officials at the jail couldn't take a booking photo of Roberts during his first hours in custody because he was reportedly uncooperative.
Wilmington Police were called to the residence around 6:45 p.m. Thursday. When they got there, they found Christopher Eugene Roberts, 52, had been stabbed.
A female called 911 and was in the middle of describing Roberts when she stopped mid-sentence to frantically say, "I think he stabbed my dad!"
The victim was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
At the beginning of the 911 call, the caller was saying Roberts was trying to kill himself and they needed help.
A motive into why Roberts allegedly killed his father has not been released.
Roberts made his first court appearance Friday morning, where he was given no bond.
Former WECT anchor Jim Hanchett was neighbors with the Roberts for about four years before he moved away from the area.
"Chris was about the nicest guy you would ever meet," Hanchett recalled. "When we lived there, they were very popular in the neighborhood, very active."
