FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA (WECT) – The case of a former Wilmington firefighter accused of rape will go before a grand jury in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Robert Hester, of Elizabethtown, was originally charged with rape and vandalism, but the latter charge has been dropped, according to the Fairfax County Clerk of Courts.

Hester knows his accuser, according to officials.

He appeared in court April 25 and he's scheduled to return on May 23. A description of Virginia's Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court reads in part:

The court also hears family abuse cases, cases where adults have been accused of child abuse or neglect, and criminal cases where the defendant and alleged victim are family or household members.

Hester is currently held without bond in the adult detention center in Fairfax County.

He was terminated from the Wilmington Fire Department because of a violation of the city's attendance policy.
