NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Officials announced Friday that GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy in New Hanover County is partnering with Dominion Virginia Power, a utility company based in Richmond, Virginia.
GE Hitachi officials say they are delighted to work with Dominion Virginia Power.
"We are thrilled to work with Dominion Virginia Power to explore the possibility of bringing the world's most technologically advanced reactor to North Anna," said Caroline Reda, president and CEO, GEH. "Their long commitment to a diverse energy portfolio, close proximity to our global headquarters and advanced technology centers and familiarization with our technology make them a perfect partner."
GE currently has 70 job openings. Officials say the partnership will allow them to hire dozens of engineers over the next few months to design a new plant for Dominion.
