WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The time is finally here for students - the $35 million expansion project for the Student Recreation Center at UNCW is finished.

The university held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly expanded center Friday around lunchtime. The new center features two pools and twice the amount of workout equipment.

The gym expansion project was originally supposed to be finished in September 2012, but it took longer than expected.

Students were allowed to use Gold's Gym through March 31 while construction crews worked on the gym.
