HOLLYWOOD, CA (WECT) - Crews are rolling out the red carpet on Hollywood Boulevard for the stars of Iron Man 3. Excited fans have been lined up outside the theater since 4:30 a.m. PT.

Hundreds have already staked out their spots along the fenced off area where the stars will walk for tonight's premiere.

Fans brought movie posters in hopes of getting autographs from those in the film.

Hollywood Boulevard has been shut down to traffic to accommodate what's expected to be a huge event.

The event is being billed as the "world premiere" of the movie, although the cast has been traveling the world to build buzz for the movie. Marvel has hosted premieres in China, Germany and London.

The movie was filmed in Wilmington last summer. It's the biggest blockbuster ever shot in Wilmington.

Robert Downey Jr., Gwenyth Pawltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce will be on the red carpet.

Several stars from other Marvel movies, including The Avengers, Captain America and Thor will also be in attendance.

According to a release from Marvel, in the new movie Tony Stark/Iron Man faces an enemy whose "reach knows no bounds" and when "Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible."
