SURF CITY, NC (WECT) – A Wilmington man faces charges after authorities say he stole supplies from a construction site in Surf City.

Roger Thomas Lauer, 57, is charged with three felony larcenies from a construction site and two misdemeanor larcenies from a construction site.

Surf City Police say Lauer took construction supplies from a property under construction five different times from March 31 to April 20. He is accused of taking items including extension ladders, nails, bolts, a wheelbarrow and more.

Lauer was arrested by the Onslow County Sheriff's Office and placed under a $32,000 bond.

Authorities charged Lauer after a witness saw his car at the property after the construction crew had left, thought it was suspicious and called Surf City Police.

Police then ran the tag, and were able to find Lauer.

The total value of the items he took is almost $1,900, according to Surf City Police.
