Volunteers celebrated at awards banquet

The Cape Fear Volunteer Center recognized all the amazing work done by volunteers in our area at their annual awards banquet in Thalian Hall. The Cape Fear Volunteer Center recognized all the amazing work done by volunteers in our area at their annual awards banquet in Thalian Hall.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Some of our area's best volunteers were celebrated on Tuesday night.  The Cape Fear Volunteer Center recognized all the amazing work done by volunteers in our area at their annual awards banquet in Thalian Hall.

WECT General Manager Gary McNair was the keynote speaker.

Harold G. Davis won this year's Volunteer of the Year Award for American Legion Post 10.

He searched throughout the state to find family members of previously "unknown" Korean war descendants.

Davis was also chosen for the Governor's award and the Medallion Honor Nominee.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
