NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Hundreds of people walked, jogged and ran through Mayfaire Town Center Monday night in honor of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Organizers welcomed everyone to the event by shifting the decimal in a traditional marathon from 26.2 miles to a fun-sized 2.62 miles.

Andres Duque said he was happy to see so many people participate, regardless of their running experience.

"This is something that brought a lot of people together," said Duque.

People started their run or walk at TrySports stores. The Wilmington location was one of four across the state that held similar events, according to a news release.

TrySports will donate 26.2% of sales Monday and 100% of any donations to One Fund Boston.
