WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The northbound lanes on South College Road at College Acres Drive were closed early Monday morning due to a broken down tractor trailer.
According to a fire official on scene, the 18-wheeler was turning left onto College Acres Drive from South College Road. As the driver was turning, the gas tank of the 18-wheeler skimmed over the median causing the tank to rupture.
About 50 gallons of diesel fuel leaked onto the road causing crews to shut down the northbound lanes for two hours.
All lanes are back open at this time.
