WILMINGTON NC - (WECT) - The Slice of Life in Pine Valley hosted a kick-off for Relay for Life, Sunday afternoon, complete with live music, games like corn hole and dunk tanks.
Organizers said it's important for them to help fight cancer because it's a disease that's impacted almost everyone in some way.
"Everybody is impacted by cancer in some way shape for form in their life," said Carrie Jenkins. "I think it's a cause that's important to everybody, so Slice has decided to do what they can to help the community."
Relay For Life events make up the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. They take place in more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries, according to the organizations web site.
