SOUTHEASTERN NC (WECT) – Showers are popping up ahead of the cold front as conditions continue to suggest that the slight threat for severe weather will ramp up into the afternoon and evening. We encourage planning for the possibility of strong thunderstorms through daybreak Saturday.
Timing: Ahead of the line, some thunderstorms may develop. These will move west to east through our area late Friday evening. Current model data indicates that the squall line itself will move through (again west to east) from 3 a.m. though 8 a.m. on Saturday morning, clearing up as we head into the middle of the day. With a slight chance of severe weather expected, we can't rule out a heavy and breezy thunderstorm during the near dawn hours particularly near the North Carolina coastline.
Conditions will clear and temperatures will run in the upper 60s Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Some showers may work back onshore for Monday.
