WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Moisture and heat will be moving into the area from the south. Throughout the day as temperatures roll into the 80s on Friday ahead of a potent cold front. This front will bring showers and thunderstorms late Friday into Saturday morning.
Timing: Ahead of the line some thunderstorms may develop. These will move west to east through our area late Friday evening. Current model data indicates that the squall line itself will move through (again west to east) from 3:00 AM though 8:00AM on Saturday morning, clearing up as we head into the middle of the day. With a slight chance of severe weather expected, we can't rule out a heavy and breezy thunderstorm during the near dawn hours particularly near the North Carolina coastline.
Conditions will clear and temperatures will run in the upper 60s Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Some showers may work back onshore for Monday.
